3.
TEACHING SYSTEM
UIC's core values are Faith, Excellence and Service. Learning
days in UIC held for 5 days from Monday to Friday. Each subject has during 50
minutes to delivered to students.
Materials of teaching and learning is multi source. Teacher
can use books from internet, publishing companies, any learning media, and many
more. In UIC, every subject has two books, there are Teacher’s book and
Student’s book.
Teacher will give the material according to the lesson plan
that has been made. The lesson plan was made based on the material in the
textbook from the government.
4. MATERIAL AND OTHER LEARNING SOURCES
In the MAPEH (Music,
Art, Physical Education, and Health) has materials and learning sources in the
classroom.
THE 21st Century MAPEH in Action is a series of
Music, Art, Physical Education, and Health Education books for the basic
education (grades 1 to 10) students in Philippines. This set of instructional
materials is based on the philosophy, objectives, and list of learning
competences of the K to 12 Basic Education Program outlined by the Department
of Education (DepEd).
This
work text is based on the design of the K to 12 MAPEH curriculum, which has the
spiral progression of processes, concepts, and skills. It is also grounded in
performances based learning. In
addition, this work text is strongly anchored on the combined, sound,
conceptual frameworks of the Differentiated Assessment. It is divided into the content areas of the
subject: Music, Arts, physical Education, and Health Education.
Besides in the book, the teachers also
uses the other references such the internet (video/ music) and other learning
aids to support learning materials.
5.
MEASUREMENT AND EVALUATION SYSTEM
Measurement and evaluation system in Integrated La School
UIC, students are given assignments both in class and homework. The task will
be assessed by the teacher based on the material that has been taught. In PE,
the students also get a point from worksheet, quiz, workgroup and plus point as
their score. Then the teacher gives the value of
whether the answer matches the question or not. According to the value set in
the lesson plan.
Evaluation of the teachers is also carried out by the
school. Several times the teacher was evaluated by the school whether the
teacher could teach well or not. Schools evaluate based on teaching materials
and learning media used.
6.
CURRICULUM
University of the
Immaculate conception using K-12 Curriculum since 2017, and also using
Religious Virgin Mary (RVM) Curriculum. In MAPEH, the DepEd’s K to 12 Health
Education program focuses on the physical, mental, emotional, social, moral,
and spiritual dimentions of holistic health.
7. TEACHING PLAN (PHYSICAL EDUCATION)
Teaching Plan in UIC is quite different with Teaching Plan in
Indonesia. Before
teaching the teachers should make lesson plan , the function of lesson plan is
planning what you want to do when you teach later.
The components
of the lesson plan are:
a. Transfer Goal
b. Essential
Understanding
c. Essential
Question
d. Preliminaries
1)

Pedagogical Contents
The teaching method provided is using
a textbook as reference material, then proceed with additional videos if
needed. Teaching used by teachers and schools is a student-centered method. In
this method, students become the center of learning activities, while teachers
become facilitators of teaching and learning activities. The students also
learn to learn actively during classroom learning and are allowed to develop
their creativity.
Teaching methods used by the teacher
depending on the teacher themselves what methods that want to use. In MAPEH learning,
the teacher uses a different method in every meeting. Commonly, the teacher
using expository, cooperative learning, and interactive learning. I love the
way how teacher’s teaching in the class. He delivers a science topic in a fun
way and gets attention to all of the students.
The teacher always
interacts with the students to build a connection by asking them a question and
ask the students to give another example then they’ll get a plus point. Teacher
voice is loud and clear.
2.
Learning Materials and Innovation
For the learning material, the
teachers usually used textbook that relates with K to 12 curriculum. Learning
materials available are printed books. The book has several chapters such as
school books in general. Besides printed books, there are also videos and
music. The video is used to describe how the material is being taught. As we
know that students can digest material more easily with music or video.
Sometimes, the
teachers utilize technology provided by the school, such as using TV or screen
to teach the student.
3.
Sources of Learning and Technology
There are several learning sources and
technology used in the school. The main learning sources used by the teacher
are textbooks, that is MAPEH in Action book (Music, Arts, Physical Education,
and Health). In addition, the school also provides television for every class
that can be used to show power point, videos, music, and so on. The teacher
keeps using technology in every learning and makes it fun.
4.
Authentic Assessment
Teaching
Plan
1.
Curriculum
The Physical Education Curriculum,
under the K to 12 Basic Education Program, has five learning strands which
include body management, movement skills, games and sport, rhythms and dance,
and physical fitness. Many activities are aimed at training students to have an
active lifestyle for lifelong fitness and wellness.
2.
Teaching Plan
Before start teaching, teachers should
create a lesson plan to make us well-organized and we know what we’re going to
do in the class. Here is one of my teaching plans related to my major:
1.
Procedure of
Teaching
First
they must pray, after that I say hello to them and they answer with warm
greetings and I asked them who is absent at the day. After that, I must review
the topic. When I do my teaching practice, I began the class with asking them question
related to the topic that will be learned. It was such an introduction
questions to the topic learned. I let the students explored their understanding
about the topic and then I gave them feedback and evaluate their answer.
After
explaining what will be learned, the teacher provides a material based on the
lesson plan that has been made. I use powerpoint and videos as media for
teaching. Then, worksheet, quiz and plus point as my evaluation.
2.
Time Management
and Organizing Activities
One class meeting is given 50 minutes
for each subject. The teacher must be able to divide the time well, according
to what will be learned. As a teacher, time management is important to achieve
learning objectives, make the student comfortable and get new knowledge from
our lesson. So, I will divide students into groups of 3 or 4 students and let
them work in groups to do certain assignments or assessments.
3.
Problem Solving
I use playing games and watch videos in
English so students can easily understand what I have learned.
So, I made activities like playing games and watching videos
so students understood and relaxed but were still serious. To solve the
problems that I faced, the teacher gave me some suggestions, such as I have to
speak loudly so that the students can hear my voice and pay attention to me.
4.
Classroom Management
To make the learning process effective
and efficient, achieve all of the learning objectives, all the teachers should
have classroom management skill. Classroom management that occurs in this class
is quite difficult because there are quite a lot of students and they sometimes
chat with their friends. When they are quite noisy, I just talk, don't be noisy
or let them fuss and for a while until they shut up and understand.
5.
Overall
Impression in Teacing
I learned a lot about teaching in UIC
Bajada. I am really excited about the students because they really appreciate
and respect me as their teacher. English language is the biggest challenge for
me. I'm not confident and there's so much negative thinking come on the mind.
But this is the goal, this is the point, I should learn to teach Physical
Education in the English Language.
Summary
and Suggestion
1.
Purpose of Practicum
The
aim of this program is to improve the experience in teaching and pedagogy
skills, especially in other countries. To encourage the pre-service
student teachers to practice their English skills. To allow the
pre-service student teachers to gain a broader regional and world view. To
expose future teachers to diverse teaching and learning situations and
opportunities, and the value of flexibility.
2.
Procedures of Practicum
The procedure of teaching are:

3.
Outcomes of Practicum
The results
obtained from this teaching practicum are experiences to teach students in the
classroom. Can manage teaching time, can manage various types of character
faced by students.
4.
The challenges of Practicum
My first challenge in this
practicum is I have used to speak English
language and I have to adapt with English pronunciation used in Philippines
because there are some words that have different pronunciation with my country
(they used Spanish). I have to manage the students and classroom well so that I
could reach the objectives in my lesson plan.
5.
Overall Impression
I felt so satisfied and happy
after I had finished teaching them. I hope that my teaching can be beneficial
for them, and also for me as their teacher. This program was learning to
understand each other and I also got the experience of how I can make lesson
plans well, arrange classes to be conducive.
6.
Suggestions for Future Improvement
I hope in the
next batch, I hope that this program continues to grow better and can make
reference and become a benchmark for teachers between countries.
